Welcome to Longcot & Fernham School’s PTA

  As a Longcot and Fernham School parent you are automatically a member of the PTA and your views and involvement are very important, no matter how much or how little time you have. Even if you think there is nothing you can offer, by keeping abreast of what is going on you may be surprised to find you can get involved on a small or large scale.

 Why Does Longcot & Fernham School PTA exist?

 It exists to promote our children’s learning by providing: 

·         Social interaction between our families and teaching staff

·         A range of activities for our children, families and teaching staff to take part in

·         The financial means to buy extra resources for the school

Charitable Status

Longcot and Fernham School’s Parent Teacher Association is a registered Charity (reg 1101141).

Fundraising

We are a very busy PTA, supported extremely well by the children, teachers and families of Longcot & Fernham School and find that our fundraising takes 3 forms:

1.    Larger fundraising at organized events:

We create opportunities for our children and their families to meet socially at a mixture of events throughout the year for example the Christmas Gift Fayre, Quiz Nights, Sponsored Walks  and this summer’s hugely successful ‘Longstock’ 60’s Disco & BBQ.

2. Ongoing  fundraising through It’s Friday and EasyFundraising.org.uk:

It’s Friday is the school’s weekly newsletter which your children bring home every Friday.  Occasionally there will be a catalogue enclosed offering for example Phoenix Cards for all your greeting cards, gift wrap and calendar needs or Chocoholics at Easter for any help the Easter Bunny may require.  Ordering is made simple and the PTA earns a small percentage from each purchase parents make. These tried and tested ways of earning funds for the PTA have become firm favorites with Longcot & Fernham School families. 

We also use easyfundraising.org.uk which provides a FREE service where you can shop with your favorite online stores and at no extra cost raise funds for Longcot & Fernham School.  You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally, but simply by using the links from their website first, each purchase you make will generate a cash back donation to Longcot & Fernham School.

3.  Smaller Fundraising Events:

We hold a monthly cake stall on the last Friday of every month where each class takes their turn to do the baking.  The school also collects used mobile phone handsets and old clothes which are sold onto companies who recycle them for use in developing countries.

The money raised by these events helps to purchase items such as interactive whiteboards, new laptops for the teachers and an outdoor CD player for the fantastic ‘wake up shake up’. We are also helping fund the new Foundation Outdoor Classroom redevelopment which will begin in the School holidays.

The PTA is always very grateful for any help offered as many hands make light work.
